Both the hotline and the website will provide the latest information regarding field closing decisions because of rain, storms or poor field conditions.
Every attempt will be made to have a decision on the day’s games by 3pm Monday thru Friday and two hours before the start of games scheduled on the weekend.
If the website indicates that no decision has been made, team managers should proceed to fields to determine field conditions. Neither games nor practices should be held if field conditions are such that usage may increase the risk of injury to players or may cause damage to the field.
Prior to the start of any game, the Board Member on Duty, the President, and the Chief of Field Maintenance, will cancel a game if he or she determines that the field is unsafe or unfit for play. The Chief of Field Maintenance also has the authority to cancel a game if he determines the field is unsafe or unfit for play.
If a game has begun the umpire-in-chief (the home plate umpire) has the sole authority on game stoppage, whether temporarily or postponed.
If you are at the ballpark, please seek shelter if there is lightning, and remain sheltered until 15 minutes after the last sighting.
Managers are encouraged to read the McLean Little League Local Rules Handbook (1.3.5; 1.3.6 and 1.3.7) regarding game delays, postponements and rescheduling.
