Challenger Division Baseball at MLL is currently accepting applications for its Buddy program. We need Buddies (ages 13-18) to make the inaugural season of McLean Little League’s Challenger Division a success. Challenger Division gives players with physical and developmental disabilities the opportunity to participate in America’s favorite pastime. Challenger Baseball participants learn not only the fundamentals of baseball, but also experience pulling together as a team, being cheered on by a crowd, and being encouraged by their peers.
Every Challenger player will have a Challenger Buddy. Buddies help players who have physical and developmental disabilities play baseball as much or as little as needed by the individual player. The Buddies’ primary responsibility is to make sure the players have fun, while learning and playing the game of baseball in a safe environment. There will be a mandatory Challenger Buddy Training Clinic for participants.
If you would like to be a Challenger Buddy please apply below. For application questions, please contact John Shank (firstname.lastname@example.org).
NOTE: In most instances, this program may be used toward required community service in schools. Baseball and softball experience is NOT required to be considered for the Buddy program. Buddies should typically be in grades 7-12 and aged 13-19 when the spring season starts in April.
