Spring 2023 Baseball

The baseball program is open to boy and girls and includes multiple levels catering to different age and skill levels.
Intermediate level baseball is only open to players of league age 13 and is played on a larger diamond with 50-ft pitching distance and 70-ft bases, often written as 50/70. For comparison, Majors and AAA baseball are played on a 46/60 diamond.
Majors is the highest level of play offered by Little League for ages 10-12. (Players of league age 12 must register for Majors, although a limited number of waivers are possible for 12 year-olds that prefer to play AAA.) The minor league levels AAA and AA are competitive levels of baseball geared toward players in the age ranges 9-11 and 8-10, respectively, with mandatory play rules that balance playing time and at-bats among all on the team. Players at the Majors, AAA, and AA levels must be drafted onto a team.
The Single-A and Transition levels are considered "developmental". Score and standings are not kept. Transition baseball is coach pitch and Single A is the levels where player pitching is introduced. The league will consider requests for specific managers and specific teammates at the Single-A and Transition levels, however it is not always possible to honor all of these requests. Players in Single-A are typically league aged 8-9, and players in Transition are typically league aged 7-8.
What level to sign up for?
  1. In general, please sign up for the next level above based on what your child played last Spring (i.e. AAA in Spring 2022, then register for Majors in Spring 2023). To be clear, there are no guarantees that your player will move up a level (unless age based) as these teams are formed via a DRAFT.
  2. The registration level is not binding. Players will be evaluated in groups of players of the same league age regardless of registration level and may be drafted into a level lower or higher than the level of their initial registration.
  3. Little league age calculator for Spring 2023 available here:

Players LL12 and under who were on a spring Majors team will return to that team and do not need to attend an evaluation. All other players for levels AA through Majors MUST attend an evaluation prior to the draft. Players who fail to attend an evaluation will not be eligible to play in the spring. Evaluations are currently scheduled from 8-12 every Saturday and Sunday in February at Westgate Elementary School. Initial registration and payment are possible online, but all players must attend an in-person registration session this Spring and will sign up for a specific evaluation slot there. The in-person registration sessions will be at the MLL complex on Westmoreland St. at the following dates and times:

  • January 7th from 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
  • January 12th from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM
  • January 21st from 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
If you have any questions about AA, AAA, or Majors, please contact the Baseball VPs, David Fiske ([email protected]) or Allen King ([email protected]).
If you have any questions about A or Transition, please contact the Developmental Baseball & Softball VP, Erik Cecere ([email protected]).
For general registration questions or technical questions about the registration website, please contact the MLL registration coordinator, Gary Klett ([email protected]).

Spring 2023 Challenger

The McLean Little League Challenger Division was established in 2012. Its purpose is to enable boys and girls with physical and mental challenges to enjoy the game of baseball along with the millions of other children who participate in this sport worldwide. Challenger games can be played as tee ball games, coach pitch, player pitch, or a combination of the three. The Challenger players wear the same uniforms, shoulder patches and safety equipment as other Little League players.

*Please note that because the Challenger League is already discounted, we are unable to apply sibling discounts toward fees. The total fees for the Challenger League will be $35 per participant.
