MLL Opens Registration for 2021 Winter Clinics

McLean Little League opened registration today for several winter clinics. Today's announcement includes clinics for baseball pitchers, baseball catchers, and softball catchers. Registration for these clinics closes November 28, 2021.

Spots in these clinics are limited and typically go quickly. You can register online at mcleanll.com. All sessions will be held indoors at Pitch Hit Run Baseball Studio.

The pitching clinics will be divided by age, with sessions for players league age 9-10 meeting 4:45-5:45. Players in the 9-10 age range will be assigned to one of two groups, with Group A meeting 12/11, 1/8, 1/22, 2/5, and 2/19 while Group B meets 12/18, 1/15, 1/29, 2/12, and 2/26. Players league age 10-12 will be assigned to one of three time slots (5:30-6:30, 6:15-7:15, or 7:00-8:00 PM) and will meet 12/11, 12/18, 1/8, 1/15, 1/22, 1/29, 2/5, 2/12, 2/19, and 2/26.

The catching clinic dates are 12/11, 12/18, 1/15, 1/22, 1/29, 2/5, 2/12, and 2/19. Softball catchers will meet from 3:00-4:00 PM, and baseball catchers immediately following from 4:00-5:00 PM. Catching clinics are open to players league ages 9-12.

Pitching Clinic: McLean Little League is excited to again be offering a Winter Pitching Clinic for baseball players that will develop pitchers from the ground up. Through small group instruction, the clinic will focus on strengthening the building blocks of successful pitching, including pitching technique and movement; strength and agility; arm care; velocity and control development; and pitching knowledge. The program will be phased, with limited throwing in the first phase to allow for continued arm rest and recovery following the Fall season and to build a foundation of strength and technique. The expectation will be for all players to invest time in between sessions on the arm care program and building on what was taught in the clinic. The goal will be for all participants to emerge as more dynamic, consistent, and confident pitchers for the Spring season. The pitching clinic will be led by Matt Austin, a former All-Big Ten Pitcher at the University of Iowa and MLL Dad, with the help of former professional and current high school varsity pitchers. The clinic will begin on December 11 and registration closes on Sunday, November 28th.
Catchers Clinic: McLean Little League will be offering a winter catchers clinic for both softball and baseball players led by Kevin Healy, the head baseball coach at Washington and Liberty High School. Coach Healy is one of the leading baseball coaches in the area. He was a catcher and designated hitter at William and Mary before beginning his coaching career at Langley and W&L. This year, we will offer a separate session targeted specifically for softball players from 3-4 pm on Saturdays beginning December 11th, with the baseball catchers clinic following immediately thereafter from 4-5 pm. The dates for the eight sessions can be found on the registration page. The cost per participant is $200.
